Prof Dr. Mehmet Murad BAŞAR

• Urology and Andrology (Male Fertility) Specialist

Born in Ankara in 1966, Dr. M. Murad Basar graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1989. Between 1989-1993, he completed his specialty training in Ankara High Specialty Hospital Urology Clinic. He worked on "Male Sexual Dysfunction" and "Penis Surgery" in Italy in 1994-1995. After returning to Turkey, he worked in Ankara Numune Hospital, and in Ankara Sevgi Hospital IVF Unit-Andrology Department between 1996-1999. He started working as an "Assistant Professor" in Kırıkkale University Faculty of Medicine in 1999.

Dr. Basar was appointed as “Associate Professor” in 2002 and as “Professor” in 2007. He worked as a consultant physician in the evaluation and treatment of male infertile patients in HRS Maternity Hospital and IVF Center between 2008-2011. Dr. Basar has been working in a private hospital in Istanbul, especially in the field of male infertility since 2011. He took specific education on microsurgical applications in the Gulhane Military Medical Academy Microsurgery Unit in 2008, and on Microsurgery and Testicular Sperm Extraction (Micro TeSe) in Cornell University of New York in 2012.

Dr. Basar has 175 publications, 99 of which are international, 189 congress papers presented in national and international congresses, and 26 book chapters in the field of Andrology and Geriatrics. He served as session chairman, speaker, and panelist in various national and international congresses. He is a member of the editorial board and referee in various national and international journals. He participated as a research supervisor and /or project researcher in 14 scientific projects supported by TUBITAK and Kırıkkale University Scientific Research Projects Unit.

He joined in different educational courses such as Video-Laparoscopy Basic Training Course, Applied Urological Laparoscopic Surgery Symposium, The Second Applied Urological Laparoscopic Surgery Course, All Aspects of Genitourinary Prostheses Course with Live Surgeries, Current Andrology Symposium-Semen Analysis Course and Pediatric Urolithiasis Courses.

Prof. Basar is a member of American Urology Association, European Society for Impotence Research, European Association of Urology, International Society of Sexual and Impotence Research, Society of the Study of Male Reproduction, European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, International Continence Society, Turkish Urology Association, Turkish Andrology Association, Continence Association, and Endourology Association.
